Is it normal for E to make you confused during a high?

I took Ecstacy about 2 months ago and it was my first time. It was actually my first drug, I skiped drinking and even getting high. Well, I took it at my freinds bday party and all her family members were there and the only poeple who knew I was on it were about 3 of my freinds becuase if anyone else knew they would tell on me. So I had the worst trip. I don't know if it was becuase I took the whole pill ( green James bond 007) but as soon as I started dancing it hit me HARD, and I felt really confused and had no idea where I was and it was scary. I started freaking out which lead into me having a panic attack. At some times, I felt like I was ok but then I got freaked out again. I felt very nasuos, and it felt like nothing else existed except me and I was just out of it; I was inside of my mind and just watched everything pass by. I'm thinking of trying it again, but I'm kind of scared this will happen. I'm a stoner now, so I have more experience with highs. Can someone tell me what was perhaps in that pill or what went wrong? And how can I prevent from this happening again?
